About
the International Myopia Prevention Association
The International Myopia Prevention Association (“IMPA”)
was founded in 1974 by Donald Rehm.
Mr. Rehm had invented and built the Myopter optical viewer
in 1972, and introduced it to the optometric profession at
the 1973 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Optometry
in San Francisco. His paper, "The Myopter Viewer: An
Instrument for Preventing, Improving and Eliminating Acquired
Myopia", was subsequently published in the American Journal
of Optometry and Physiological Optics.
On May 13, 1975, he obtained U.S. Patent No. 3,883,225 on
the Myopter.
In 1981, Mr. Rehm published a book entitled “The Myopia
Myth” on the subject of myopia prevention which is available
through IMPA.
